Mountain Wildflower Journey

Watercolor Illustrations for a Story Concept

This series of illustrations was created to visualize the world, characters, and story of Mountain Wildflower Journey. The story is about an elderly woman who goes in search of a rare wildflower and along the way learns to rest, find joy, and be herself in nature.

I created the illustrations and story during my second summer in New Mexico, where I got to spend several beloved afternoons in wildflower meadows and being with trees, birds, and alpine species in the Sangre de Cristo mountains. I was also inspired to create an older character going on a journey and being active and full of life, in response to the severe lack and misrepresentation of older women characters within visual stories and media. I hope the illustrations inspire calm, joy, excitement, and peace in the viewer.
