7 Watercolor Illustrations for the social media art challenge of Folktale Week

This series of illustrations was created to participate in the Folktale Week challenge and also to explore my passions for folklore and visual storytelling.

There are seven word prompts given a few weeks before the challenge, and in this quick time I worked to find, research, and create a visual world and single illustration for each of the seven folktales I selected.

The folktales included are, "La Llorona" "The Seal Killer" "How Spider Became Wolf" "The King in the Basket" and "Mossycoat". Together, these hand-painted illustrations evoke a nostalgic, magical, and vivid atmosphere which the viewer can enter into and explore the individual worlds, narratives, and symbols of each folktale.
